If you prefer to shop for small brands and support independent artists, check out the shops along Haji Lane.
Known as Singapore’s indie neighbourhood, you can find small quirky shops selling anything from clothes to crafts and jewelry, hip cafes and cool bakeries. Needless to say, it is a popular hangout for youths in Singapore. Many of the shops and eateries are even run by young people, attracted by the idea of setting up their own retail space to sell their favourite products. Not to be missed is taking pictures with the colourful street art and murals found all over Haji Lane.
Haji Lane is situated in the Kampong Glam area, near Bugis. To reach Haji Lane, take the MRT and alight at Bugis station. It is about a ten minute walk away.
