Free live music is easy to find in London.

The Southbank Centre, the arts center next to the London Eye, has free lunchtime concerts every Friday in the central bar. The type of music varies between jazz, folk, classical, and music from other countries.

Several churches in London offer free music concerts at lunchtime.

At St Jame’s Piccadilly Church, concerts are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1:10 pm, with a duration of 50 minutes. The concert is free, but donations are accepted and encouraged.

At St Olave’s Church in the City of London, free concerts are held at 1pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It has been a church tradition for over 50 years.

St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square Church, has music concerts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, usually to 13:00.

At the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, you can also attend free lunchtime concerts with in-house performers or guests, usually on Fridays and Sundays.

Classical music is always played on the lower floor of the Covent Garden market. Just get there and see what’s going on.

It’s not uncommon to also have free live music in pubs around the city.
