For a unique taste of Chinese culture and customs, visit Haw Par Villa. This unique theme park was originally built in 1937. There are no rides in this theme park. Instead, you will find life sized statues and dioramas depicting scenes from Chinese mythology and legends.
A highlight of Haw Par Villa, and the scariest, is the Ten Courts of Hell. It is not recommended for very young children. Here you will find gory depictions of Hell in Chinese mythology and Buddhism. Some parents would bring their children to Haw Par Villa specifically to show them what will happen if they continue to misbehave.
Haw Par Villa has recently undergone a revamp and some modernization. One new attraction to visit is the Hell’s Museum, which explains the concepts behind the Ten Courts of Hell.
